Personality.

Fred is a brilliant young scientist with a very crafty mind. She is known to invent things on the fly when most needed. She’s a genius by any other means, and it would be a huge mistake to underestimate her intellect just because she has a pretty face. Just because she’s smart, however, does not mean that she isn’t just as well versed in defending herself and jumping into a battle for good when needed. When under extreme stress, she has a tendency to withdraw – an aftereffect of all those years being in Pylea. She has an affinity for plants, and an air about her that speaks of an innocent, unassuming woman. She holds a great inner strength that gives her the innate ability to survive even during the most trying to circumstances.

Appearance.

It is obvious based off of her appearance that Fred is not a materialistic girl. Her wardrobe generally consists of t-shirts, jeans, and simple summer dresses, which matches with her uncomplicated appearance. She has more important things on her mind rather than excessively fussing over clothes and outward appearance. Her hair is the same way, usually quickly done, hardly attended to more than five minutes. She is fresh-faced, uncluttered, and more interested in people than material possessions.

Background.

Until graduating from high school, Fred had lived in Dallas, Texas her whole life. It was not until college did she venture away from home to go to school at UCLA in California. Her first intended major was history, but after taking a course in Physics from one Professor Seidel, she discovered a love for all things mathematical and scientific and changed her path. One day, while working in the Stewart Brunell Public Library as a Graduate Student, she curiously opened a demon language book and read from it. She was suddenly sucked through a portal to Pylea (her future good friend Lorne was sucked through the same portal and sent to Los Angeles).

She was stuck in Pylea for five years, living under the most miserable of slave-like conditions, becoming what was known as a ‘cow’ in this world. It was not until Cordelia had a vision of her, and Angel Investigations found their way to Pylea was she finally rescued. But due to her extreme lifestyle, she had convinced herself that her life in Los Angeles was nothing but a dream and never existed. She was driven almost completely mad from living in a cave all by herself, but at the same time, she showed extreme bravery when she comforting Beast Angel and nursed him back to health. With the help of the rest of the gang, however, she was able to finally reclaim some of her life back as she became an integral part of the team.

While Fred started off having a crush on Angel, that crush eventually dissipated into a sort of sibling like bond between the two of them. That made way for her relationship with Gunn to begin, though it was short lived. Upon finding out that Professor Seidel was actually the one behind her being sent to Pylea because he was jealous of her intelligence, Fred made a plan to kill that man with Wesley’s help. Gunn, however, stepped in before she could complete the deed, and killed the man himself. The rift between the two because of them eventually led to the end of their relationship. When the team joined Wolfram & Hart, she took up the head position of the Practical Science Division. It was here where she met Spike in his non-corporal form, and was the only one willing to try to help him get his body back.
